The BrowGal Launching Event in Sephora Indonesia with Reviews

Hey peeps! I was invited to The BrowGal launching event in Sephora Indonesia just about yesterday, so let’s see what’s up!

Maybe most of you have heard about The BrowGal (well take a look at that marketing budget!). They specialise in a quite specific field, that is, of course, brows. Not only they sell brow pencils, brow mascara and highlighters, they also sell the tweezers, scissors, and quite amazingly, the brow growth serum and hair supplements. Phew, that was intense! You can jump into the Review paragraph if you wish to skip the Intro and the Guide column.

I first noticed the brand when it suddenly endorsed 50 beauty bloggers a few months ago, and they were suddenly everywhere. Before they were retailed in Sephora Indonesia, The BrowGal was only sold in Beauty Box Indonesia. Yet, never have I seen the hair supplements anywhere in Indonesia. Maybe it was due to the Drug regulation (again) by the government :/

When I was invited to their launching event in Sephora Indonesia, I was really excited to satisfy my curiosity; because, well, what’s up with this product? What makes it different from my holy grail L’Oreal Brow Stylist Definer (Anastasia is on another category, I guess)? The answer was there right away as they offered a free brow waxing (which I didn’t really need of since I religiously tweeze my brow once a week) and a brow makeover. Unfortunately, I showed up really late because of the dentist appointment. As a result I skipped the whole demo 😦 Luckily, I still can experience the makeover! It shows amazing result and everybody’s satisfied with the brow artists’ work. Stupid me, I forgot to take the picture of my own brow makeover :’) Aaand they gave us a free brow pencil and a free concealer+highlighter pencil!

A while ago I posted about how I usually do my brows. The thing is, there’s no real rules of getting your brows done, you just groom and fill them as convenient as you like. The BrowGal has it’s way to perfect your brows.

  1. Brush your brows to determine its shape.
  2. Fill them with a matching colour (to your hair).
  3. Fill them with a precision as to match your favoured shape.
  4. Brush them again to get the colour pigment even.
  5. Trim the longer-than-it-should brow hairs.
  6. Tweeze the mini hairs underneath your brows.
  7. Apply highlighter.
  8. Set them with EyebrowGel.

Shades received: Espresso for the brow pencil, and Gold for the highlighter and concealer.

To be honest, I was quite surprised for the fact that they produced the conventional eyebrow pencil. Most of brow pencil nowadays are all retractable because it’s just easier and time saving to not to sharpen those pencils. Not to mention that the risk of breaking the crayon is a lot higher. But with this one, I can fairly say that they’ve really done a lot in their research. The formula is not too creamy but not to hard, which I find perfect. It means that you don’t get harsh lines even though you scratch it hard, yet at the same time, it shows up when I apply light strokes.

I tried sharpening the pencil and it doesn’t seem that it’d easily break. The pencil cap itself has a sharpener on it; oh, the versatility! The very reason I hate the regular brow pencils is because I have to bring a sharpener along with my small daily makeup kit, and with this one I just don’t have to. The remaining things that I don’t like about the pencil is the fact that I still have to sharpen it, and the tone is a little bit too warm for my taste. But with the formula it has, the justification has been made. Ten seconds of sharpening means nothing because this product is great, and might I say, I like it more than I like the L’Oreal Brow Stylist Definer. It lasts for about 6 hours before starting to fade, but after 10 hours there’s still like 80% of products on your brows. You will also get the spooley which is now a standard thing for a brow pencil.

The concealer works quite well as it has a pretty decent coverage. You can easily blend the product after you apply it. Personally I only use concealers to sharpen the look of the outer edge of my brows. On the other side of the pencil, there’s this gold highlighter that you can use to highlight just about everything on your face! Originally they offer 2 shades: gold and champagne pink; I received the gold one. Oh, you can even use this as an eyeshadow. It is really creamy and it blends like a dream. Might I say, I LOVE the highlighter! Unfortunately I think I should buy a large sharpener to make use of them.

Haven’t tweezed my brows in 5 days, apologies for the mini hairs .__.

Price list: click here. IDR 325k (or US$25) is not that affordable, but then again, this pencil will last you 3x longer than the regular skinny brow pencil. So it’s worth the price.

Final verdict:

Brow Pencil score: 4.5/5

Concealer & Highlighter score: 4/5

Brow pencils:

  • Great texture: not too creamy, not too hard.
  • Shows up well in light strokes, but doesn’t show up much on harsh ones.
  • Decent colour selection.
  • Has a sharpener included in the cap, which is quite innovative and versatile.
  • Long-lasting.

Concealer & highlighter:

  • Both are creamy, pigmented and easily blended.
  • Versatile.
  • Because they’re pencil-shaped, you can easily “draw” with them.

All of them:

  • The fact that I have to sharpen them.
  • The brow pencil is too much of a warm-toned for me and the concealer is a little too cool-toned.

Oh, and for Jakarta Residents, The BrowGal is offering free brow waxing and make over in Central Park Mall, Mal Kelapa Gading, and Kota Kasablanka only until 12th October 2016. Don’t miss it, peeps!

Thank you for reading my post! Have a nice day! 🙂
